Appendix A: North Carolina Anti-Fortune Telling Law

14-401.5. Practice of phrenology, palmistry, fortune-telling or clairvoyance prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to practice the arts of phrenology, palmistry, clairvoyance, fortune telling and other crafts of a similar kind in the counties named herein. Any person violating any provision of this section shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. This section shall not prohibit the amateur practice of phrenology, palmistry, fortune-telling or clairvoyance in connection with school or church socials, provided such socials are held in school or church buildings. Lady Lorelei’s Tarot Experience

We all start out as the Fool. That’s the meaning of beginning anything. Smart and experienced is what we are at the end. I spent years in the Magician phase learning and doing, becoming a National Merit Scholar, graduating with Honors in Electrical Engineering. But the years of scientific material education left a lack that I filled by entering the realm of the High Priestess as a second initiated Hare Krishna brahmacarini for ten years. In 1996 I left the temple and returned briefly to the material scientific energy of the Magician and quickly acquired a job in the computer industry. Then I passed through the High Priestess by re-awakening my own intuitive powers and formally learning the tarot. In 2000 I moved into the Empress and experienced a new appreciation of my own femininity, the Goddess, the Moon, and the Earth. In 2001 I moved into the energy of the Emperor and took charge of my own destiny more and more; and helped others do the same. The sad lesson a lot of us learned in 2001 is that no matter how much power and good intentions we have, we can still lose those we care about most. 2002 is bringing me a chance to start over in a lot of ways. My years in the temple were a surrender to that authority of the church which is pictured in the Heirophant. This year I take a new twist on this formal religious hierarchy and again work on making my own destiny.
